About Me
This newsletter is called Skip Intro because I don’t have a lot of time to waste on small talk and pleasantries.
Let me explain.
My name is Angela Norton Tyler, and I am an eyeing-retirement educator who has managed to self-publish a few books. I should be proud and happy about that, but there’s one little issue preventing me from basking…
I have dozens? Hundreds? Thousands? of stories and books rattling around my head that I have not finished or even started. (That’s more than one little issue, but you get what I’m saying.) As if that weren’t scary enough, each story takes place in one or more “worlds” and is connected to other stories in its world and, perhaps, other worlds.
Deep breath.
What do you think about when you look into the night sky and see the twinkly stars? Do you marvel at the idea of planets in our solar system, solar systems in our galaxy, galaxies in our universe? I used to. Now, I feel an overwhelming dread at the millions of words, thousands of characters, hundreds of plots and dozens-upon-dozens of settings that I need to… create and assimilate.
I am so overwhelmed by the sheer scope of my fictional writing universe that I have no motivation to sit down and create it. This should be the perfect time in my life to become the prolific writer of my childhood dreams, but I cccaaaannn’t! It’s too much. While I do nothing, I am terrified that I am running out of time.
Trying not to panic here.
If you are a frustrated, worried, or panicked writer, join me and together we can figure out how to be strong, consistent writers. I’ll share some of those stories, what I’m learning and doing about writing motivation, strange musings, interesting people-watching and funny happenings. You can eat popcorn and watch me flail and/or share what’s working for you.
Deal? Deal!
What To Expect
In addition to the writing situation mentioned above, I have kids (grown, but IFYKYK), older parents, friends that like to visit, a Peloton membership I am determined to use, a regular-smegular job, a side-gig, and a business I’m trying to get off the ground.
I’m also learning Spanish and re-learning French.
This will be a once-a-week newsletter. Gracias. Et merci.
Intro skipped.
LET’S WRITE.
Why Subscribe?
My coworkers like to say…“Go with the go-ers” meaning the busiest people are the ones that get the most done. (Corniness is an educator survival mechanism.)
I may be busy, but before I tackle anything else on my list, I will make sure that subscribers get:
First peek at upcoming stories, chapters and books
Access to projects still-in-the-works
Invitation to comment on drafts and guide the direction of my writing
Special behind-the-scenes, day-in-the-life photos
